New Frontiers in Opthalmology discussed at the 2012 meeting American Academy of Opthalmology
Leading Orange County LASIK surgeon, Dr. Charles Manger attends the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology earlier this month in Chicago.
In November, Dr. Charles Manger, a leading Orange County LASIK surgeon, spent time in Chicago at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Opthalmology to learn about the new advancements in Ophthalmology. In addition to LASIK surgery, Dr. Manger continues to stay up to date with improved methods in treating eye issues. At the conference Dr. manger viewed the Peschke corneal cross-linking machine, which offers hope to patients who are losing corneal strength and vision due to a corneal disease called Keratoconus. «With this machine Riboflavin and a strong light strengthens these weak corneas», according to Dr. Manger.
According to the The National Keratoconus Foundation (NKCF) Keratoconus is a non-inflammatory eye condition in which the normally round dome-shaped cornea progressively thins causing a cone-like bulge to develop. This results in significant visual impairment. For more information about Keratoconus, go to http://www.nkcf.org/about-keratoconus. Not all visual problems, like Keratoconus, can be treated with LASIK. The best way to determine if you will be a candidate for LASIK is to schedule a 14- test LASIK exam with Dr. Manger.
